Three Days a Year Is Not a Civic Education

The committee identifies, accurately, that Yale undergraduates share no common intellectual experience. There is no single book, course, or experiment every student is guaranteed to encounter before graduation. This is a fundamental problem for any institution claiming to educate citizens for a shared political community.
